Title: The title of your ad is extremely important in getting candidates
to read through your ad. The position title should be clear and concise, and
worded so that someone who is not familiar with your organization understands
what the job is. For example, Associate II may be appropriate for your
organization's job description, but an outside candidate will not know what
that means. Associate II-Animal Care Supervisor would be much more descriptive.
Opening text: List a few compelling reasons someone would want to work
for your organization. Are you located in a desirable living area? Does the
company provide an outstanding work environment? Then don't hesitate to take a
line or two to say so and get the individual interested.
Job description: Sell it! Talk about opportunities. If there is growth
potential, mention it. Highlight the benefits of working at your organization,
accentuating the positive aspects of the position. Mention some of the benefits
and, if possible, list the salary range for the position. If the salary range
is on the low side but you have other benefits to help compensate for that,
stress those benefits. If you have a link to a more detailed description of the
job on your organization's web site, include that as well.
Contact information: List how you want to be contacted-mailing address,
fax, e-mail, or through your company's web site. Listing your organization's
web site URL helps individuals to learn more about your company or institution.
