Mouse Pathobiology & Phenotyping Short Course

Course objectives: Improve translational outcomes in preclinical research, by • Providing fundamental information and resources on mouse genetics; 'normal' and abnormal phenotypes (oriented toward improving model selection and experimental design); genetic engineering strategies; traditional and novel imaging strategies; various aspects of neurobehavioral phenotyping; metabolic phenotyping; pulmonary phenotyping; clinical pathology and anatomic pathology phenotyping; • Practical laboratory sessions to develop skills in mouse handling; specimen collections for hematology, histology and other testing; tissue identification, and basic pathology. Course format (> 30 contact hours) : • Lectures ~24hr • Laboratory sessions ~10hr: Four (4) Hands-on sessions
