• Exhibitor Advisory Committee (EAC) provides a forum for information exchange between AALAS and National Meeting exhibitors to enhance the overall quality of the meeting for all attendees. To serve on the EAC, members must represent National Meeting (NM) exhibiting companies who are AALAS National Commercial Members (four of these members will also represent ATA). The appointments shall be a cross-section of NM exhibitors to include small-booth companies, medium-booth companies, and large-booth companies.
  • Institute for Laboratory Animal Management (ILAM) committee plans and conducts the ILAM meeting, a continuing education program in management techniques that are relevant to all members of AALAS and affiliated organizations, conducted in two one-week sessions approximately one year apart. The committee evaluates the program each year and develops and recommends new policies and procedures as needed for AALAS BOT approval. To serve on the ILAM Committee, a member must have at least one of the following criteria: graduate of the ILAM Program, AALAS Laboratory Animal Technologist certification, CMAR certification, a DVM/VMD or a PhD. The Chair and Vice-Chair must be graduates of the ILAM Program. At least five members must be ILAM Graduates. Committee members must also be able to spend a week in Memphis to conduct the ILAM program.
  • National Meeting Program Committee (NMPC) plans the scientific, educational program of the National Meeting with the goal of developing the most attractive possible educational opportunity for the membership. Members of this committee oversee specific segments of the National Program including Seminars, Workshops, Special Topic Lectures, Panel Discussions, Facilitators, and Poster Sessions.
  • National Meeting Local Arrangements Subcommittee (NMLAS) acts as a local resource to AALAS staff and NMPC for information and assistance in planning the program and entertainment for the National Meeting. Such assistance may include suggesting handout items/gifts, assisting with contacts at local institutions that are willing to help with the NM program, and providing volunteers for the NMLAS booth during the NM. Members of this Subcommittee are appointed by the NMLAS Chair, serve for one year and typically reside in or near the National Meeting (NM) city. 
  • Leadership Development Subcommittee (LDS), a subcommittee of the Executive Committee, is responsible for organizing and conducting the Leadership Academy, which is held during the AALAS National Meeting. Effectiveness of the Leadership Academy is evaluated by tracking past attendees to determine their involvement in leadership at the local, regional, or national level. The committee also works with the national office to ensure that past attendees are aware of the process for volunteering to serve on a committee. This small subcommittee comprises a Chair and additional members who currently or have previously held a position of AALAS Leadership.
  • First Time / New Member Subcommittee (FT/NMS), a subcommittee of the Executive Committee, is responsible for organizing and conducting the NM Orientation Session during the National Meeting. Conducted by AALAS Leadership and Staff, the orientation provides new members, international attendees, and first timers with tips on how to plan their week, and answers questions about AALAS programs, educational opportunities, and National Meeting event schedules. This small subcommittee comprises a Chair, and additional members as needed, who currently or previously held a position of AALAS leadership.
