The AALAS Foundation (AF) supports educational outreach on the essential role of responsible laboratory animal care and use in science to advance human and animal health. Foundation committees provide many volunteer opportunities for helping with these efforts. 

Foundation committee chairs are appointed each year from the current AF board. The chairs select members to serve on the committees. All committee meetings are held via teleconference eliminating the need for travel. 

Branch Relations Committee

  •    Inspire increased involvement from AALAS branches and districts
  •    Encourage local branches to conduct the AREA Program
  •    Serve as AFBOD ambassadors at branch and district meetings
  •    Promote public outreach projects to AALAS community
  •    Help implement nationwide public outreach efforts at local and regional levels
  •    Generate financial support for AALAS Foundation public outreach efforts

National Meeting Committee 

  •    Coordinate and generate enthusiasm for Silent and Live Auction at the National Meeting
  •    Volunteer to promote AALAS Foundation in the National Meeting booth
  •    Coordinate volunteers to help execute the Silent & Live Auction
  •    Plan and execute reception to recognize past donors
  •    Generate financial support for Foundation public outreach efforts

Development Committee 

  •    Develop/recommend fundraising strategies for the AALAS Foundation
  •    Develop/recommend strategies/tactics for fostering relationships to strengthen donor relations

Public Relations Committee 

Oversees the development and distribution of the Foundation's public outreach products and programs. Volunteers are needed for several subcommittees that focus on the development of different Foundation resources and programs:

  • Websites - AALAS Foundation, 4Research/Kids4Research, and
  • PR Campaign – “We Care” Ad Campaign
  • Gaming Application Committee 
  • “Celebrate the Mouse” Campaign
