AALAS Programs Code of Conduct

The American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (“AALAS”) does not discriminate against individuals or groups regarding AALAS membership and/or AALAS event attendance. However, AALAS reserves the right to deny registration to individuals or revoke a registration and remove and/or exclude that individual from the AALAS National Meeting for any reason, including, but not limited to an individual’s or group’s previous history of affiliation with organizations that make or have made a practice of opposing the beliefs, mission, and/or affiliation(s) of AALAS and/or has a prior history of negative interaction with AALAS.

Consent Clause

Registration and attendance at, or participation in, AALAS meetings, events, and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution (both now and in the future) of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions, and audiotapes of such events and activities by AALAS and other authorized third parties, including but not limited to the venue, the host city, and the host CVB. Your registration may include technology that monitors your activities throughout the meeting, such as session attendance and booths visited.

Communicable Disease Related Hold Harmless, Release, Waiver Of Liability, and Indemnity Agreement

The American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (hereafter “AALAS”) strongly encourages you to be fully vaccinated before participating in its on-site National Meeting being held in Kansas City, Missouri in October 2021 (hereafter “National Meeting”). By submitting this Registration to attend the AALAS National Meeting, I Acknowledge and Agree:

  1. that I will comply with all Federal, State and local Kansas City/Jackson County, Missouri laws, regulations, requirements and recommendations that are in place at that time;

  2. that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present;

  3. to assume all risks that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 while attending or participating in activities conducted as part of the AALAS National Meeting;

  4. on behalf of myself and my personal representatives, assigns, heirs, next of kin and others with whom I may interact not to hold AALAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri and/or the owner of any premises where such activities are conducted and their respective officials, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, contractors, servants, sponsors, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively “Releasees”) liable for any risks, injuries, illness, infections or damages arising because of  my attendance at the AALAS National Meeting;

  5. to RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE and COVENANT NOT TO SUE on behalf of myself and my personal representatives, assigns, heirs, next of kin and on behalf of others with whom I interact any or all of the Releasees for any injuries, illness, infections or damages and/or any claim or demands arising from my attendance and participation in the AALAS National Meeting; and

  6. TO DEFEND, SAVE, HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE RELEASEES FROM ALL CLAIMS OF EVERY KIND INCLUDING ALL COSTS OF DEFENSE ARISING OUT OF, OR WHICH WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED BUT FOR MY ATTENDANCE AND/OR PARTICIPATION IN THE AALAS NATIONAL MEETING.

I HAVE READ THIS COMMUNICABLE DISEASE RELATED HOLD HARMLESS, RELEASE, WAIVER OF LIABILITY, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT, UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SUBMITTING THE REGISTRATION FORM FOR THE AALAS NATIONAL MEETING, AND HAVE AGREED TO ITS TERMS AND CONDITIONS FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT, ASSURANCE OR GUARANTEE BEING MADE TO ME AND INTEND MY ACCEPTANCE TO BE A COMPLETE AND UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE OF ALL LIABILITY TO THE GREATEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW.

AALAS Virtual Programs Code of Conduct

AALAS is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all meeting participants and AALAS staff. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, volunteers, exhibitors, AALAS staff members, service providers, and all others are expected to abide by this Virtual Programs Code of Conduct. This policy applies to all AALAS meeting-related events, including those sponsored by organizations other than AALAS but held in conjunction with AALAS events, on public or private platforms.

AALAS has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, including but not limited to sexual harassment by participants or our staff at our meetings. If you experience harassment or hear of any incidents of unacceptable behavior, AALAS asks that you inform Betty Cartwright at betty.cartwright@aalas.org so that we can take the appropriate action.

Unacceptable Behavior is defined as:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.

  • Verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, AALAS staff member, service provider, or other meeting guest

  • Examples of verbal abuse include, but are not limited to, verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presenta-tions, or threatening or stalking any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, AALAS staff member, service provider, or other meeting guest.

  • Disruption of presentations during sessions, in the exhibit hall, or at other events organized by AALAS throughout the virtual meeting. All participants must comply with the instructions of the moderator and any AALAS virtual event staff.

  • Presentations, postings, and messages should not contain promotional materials, special offers, job offers, product announcements, or solicitation for services. AALAS reserves the right to remove such messages and potentially ban sources of those solicitations.

  • Canvassing or distributing advertising matter outside the exhibitor’s own space is not permitted. Solicitation of business, except by exhibitors, is not permitted.

  • Participants should not copy or take screen shots of Q&A or any chat room activity that takes place in the virtual space.

AALAS reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning or refund, in response to any incident of unacceptable behavior, and AALAS reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future meeting, virtually or in person.
