Noise and Vibration Webinar

Make plans to attend the September webinar.

The September webinar, Noise and Vibration in the Vivarium, will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM CT. The webinar will be presented by Dr. Jeremy Turner, PhD.

This webinar will review the problems of vibration, noise, and ultrasonic noise in the animal facility; from lighting, caging systems, and other elements of the vivarium space to those signals produced by typical husbandry activities and construction. We will address how these signals can serve as stressors to lab animals and potential confounds for research using species from mice to zebrafish. Finally, we will discuss best practices for how to measure, manage, and mitigate noise and vibration issues during day-to-day activities and during construction, with the ultimate goals of Refining our animal models and Reducing the number of animals used (i.e., 3Rs).
