Coronavirus Update

3/24/2020

AALAS continues to monitor the rapidly changing situation related to the spread of COVID-19. We understand that concerns for health, safety, and the impact on meeting attendance, among other issues, are affecting our members.

We encourage everyone to follow guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization. If there are any changes to event schedules, we will provide information to registrants.

Update: 3/11/20

After much deliberation, AALAS has decided to postpone this weekend's Ben Cohen Branch Management summit due to the spread of COVID-19. As of the writing of this letter, nearly 1/3 of our expected guests have canceled and more cancellations are likely as travel restrictions are put into place at facilities around the country.

Please contact your airline immediately and request that they waive the cancellation fee and allow for the reuse of the ticket within the next year. AALAS will evaluate the potential for rescheduling this event once this current emergent situation has been resolved. We will be in touch when firmer plans are in place.

AALAS staff and leadership appreciate your enthusiasm for this event and we look forward to hosting you at a later date.

Update: 3/24/20

Dear AALAS Members,

Like many of you around the country, our local county and city governing bodies have issued a two-week shelter in place order for Shelby County, TN. Beginning at 6:00 PM CT today, residents are asked to stay inside their homes and limit leaving beyond what is necessary to take care of essential needs.

The AALAS National Office staff will honor these executive orders and civil emergency proclamations and begin working from home on Wednesday, March 25 until April 8, 2020. The timeframe may be extended if necessary.

From our home locations, we will strive to assist you with your AALAS needs during these turbulent and uncertain times. Please know that the staff cares about you and your animals and we hope that by honoring the “Safer at Home” initiatives, we can help flatten the curve.

Sincerely,
Ann Turner
Executive Director
AALAS and the AALAS Foundation

Update 4.2.20

On April 2, Tennessee Governor Lee issued Executive Order 23, requiring people to stay at home to help control the spread of COVID 19.  The order is effective through  11:59 pm on April 14; therefore the current work from home arrangement for AALAS staff will be extended until April 15.   If the order is not extended, we will return to the office on April 15.

Update 4.13.20

The current work from home arrangement for AALAS staff will be extended until May 1 in accordance with the Tennessee governor's order.
