WEB-063A: This webinar will review practices and options for conducting semiannual inspections at large academic institutions. The philosophical approach to the inspection process will be discussed with emphasis on the educational opportunity for both IACUC members and animal users. The role of the different members of the IACUC inspection team will be reviewed with an emphasis on how to generate discussion and focus the attention of the different members. The discussion will include the difficulties associated with the classification of inspection findings that will allow for the identification of trends (good and bad), decrease the administrative burden, and facilitate the ability to track change over longer periods of time. Finally, we will discuss the challenges associated with enacting change post-semiannual review.
Audience: Animal care program directors, veterinarians, IACUC members, IACUC staff, and facility managers/supervisors. Anyone who might be involved in the semiannual IACUC inspection process.
