We’ve all heard it before… I’m going to lose my line of mice! Let’s say it is a breeding pair that is not producing pups; maybe an investigator is down to his last elderly male: or perhaps a particular genetic mutation is lethal before pups reach sexual maturity. For almost every circumstance, there are rescue strategies that can be employed to salvage a mouse line. You may also encounter an investigator who wants to import mice positive for a pathogen, or you may experience a pathogen outbreak in your facility. Either way, we can invoke some of the same strategies to rederive a line of mice. This webinar will address the options available when you find that a genetically unique mouse line may not be maintained by natural mating. Rescue strategies will be discussed, as well as the assisted reproductive technologies available to achieve rescue, rederivation, and importation. Webinar participants should gain a clear understanding that rescue strategies exist; understand in what situations rescue strategies may be used; and achieve a basic understanding of techniques, including superovulation, embryo transfer, in vitro fertilization and cryopreservation.You can set up a group training event for your management team or watch it on your own.
