WEB-028A: People often make the mistake of interpreting cat signals as if they were human or dogs. Cats often interpret human body language as if we were cats! This can be particularly detrimental in the laboratory, especially if fear of dominant behaviors lead to conflict or injury. Let's start speaking the same "language." This presentation will show how to accurately interpret cat facial expressions and body language, based on scientific research. We will also talk about training for procedures in the laboratory setting. (Yes, cats are as trainable as dogs - with the right incentives.
