TTS-002: The Technician Training Shorts series provides an opportunity to schedule a training session for staff to view a 10 to 15-minute recording and use the active learning exercises provided to enhance the learning experience - either immediately after the presentation or later.
Animal care staff have duties that may require moving carts and racks containing items, such as feed, bedding, cages, trash, or small animals. This often involves moving carts and racks safely while navigating around obstacles. This Training Short provides information on the challenges of performing these tasks and ways to minimize injury if these tasks are performed improperly. Staff will learn:
- The basics of cart-moving ergonomics for both carts and racks
- How to reduce cart-moving injuries
- Practical examples to improve cart-moving conditions
- The importance of cart and rack maintenance
Included with the recording are two active learning exercises:
- Task Blast: Staff can brainstorm about their hardest cart-moving tasks and discuss ways to improve and optimize cart-moving safety.
- Cart Moving Safety Game Quiz: A PowerPoint presentation with 15 quiz questions and suggestions on ways to play the game.
