"Am I Doing This Right? Ensuring Rodent Well-being During Euthanasia"
April 5, 2022
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM CT

WEB-074: Ensuring that euthanasia is performed humanely is critical to protect the well-being of animals and to minimize compassion fatigue in staff. In this webinar, we will review the current recommendation of the AVMA Guidelines for the Euthanasia of Animals: 2020 Edition and the practical considerations involved in the implementation of these recommendations. Additionally, we will review how to assess the well-being of animals during euthanasia so that the laboratory animal professional and research staff can be confident that they are successfully accomplishing the goal of humane euthanasia. The webinar will focus on rats and mice, as these rodents are the most frequently euthanized animals in research.
